We are in Vida, Oregon near Finn Rock at mile 36.5 up the McKenzie River (on the Cook Rapids) which winds through the volcanic Cascade Mountains. Our family used to operate a famous river lodge and cabins in the 1940's ( The Porter's Hawthorne House) just downriver, but this Cabin Number 1 ( the Blue Heaven Cabin) is where our hearts lie and you will want to return! We know the river, and we know you will love this cabin! Bring a fishing pole and binoculors!

This 900 square foot cozy cabin has a spacious master bedroom and separate Great Room with large windows looking out over the rapids. (much larger than a studio cabin.) Cook meals in the kitchen or on the Weber BBQ out on the river deck. You are not just on the river, you are even OVER the river! And, across the McKenzie is old-growth Douglas Fir and Western Redcedar on the river and in the mountains of the Willamette National Forest.
Relax to the sound of the McKenzie's turquoise waters at Lower Cook's Rapids as a cozy Lopi Woodstove flickers and warms the Great Room. Bring your fishing pole, as you can fish for rainbow trout from the deck! Come to the Heavens Gate River Cottage in Vida. President Herbert Hoover fished this river often! You will love this McKenzie River Cabin- Blue Heaven River Cottage in Vida :the best of cabin rentals. This Heavens Gate River Cabin in Vida is not to be missed!
This is a 900 -square foot cabin. The knotty pine and white fir floors add a romantic ambience. It has a large master with a king bed, a Great Room with a new Stanton, leather queen sleeper sofa(you won't feel that horrid 'bar in your back'), full bathroom, full kitchen with full sized glass top oven and stainless refrigerator. It is rustic with modern touches.
There is a well-stocked game closet with many board games, puzzles, and even an extra second , small portable TV with movies for kids or adults.
The is a new full size washer and dryer for weekly stays. It has a fireplace, with a romantic wood stove which has a large glass window, and dual zone heating and also excellent dual zone air conditioning.
The Blue Heaven River Cottage (1941) is historic was once part of the old Seymour's Ranch, just west of Finn Rock. You can stroll in the 4 acre meadow across the road. Or take a short walk down the riverside Grizzly Bear path. It is located at milepost 36.5 on the McKenzie Highway, and is literally right on the river( the river deck is OVER the river). It is unique that it is on rapids, and has an old growth forest across the river. Many cabins claim to be riverfront, but few are on rapids, built on supports cantilevered over the river with the beautiful privacy of an old -growth national forest across the rapids and riffles of the McKenzie. This is not the narrow upper river, this is the main, wider part of the McKenzie, on rapids, and is thus much louder. The location is also unique because the morning sun fully hits the river deck as you are having coffee as does the setting sun with your dinner.
"We stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Waking up to the river on the balcony was one of our favorite parts."(Facebook)
March -2017 " I have been staying at this place for 10 years, and is just keeps getting better! The sound of the river is amazing and the comfortable beds make for amazing nights sleep".(Yelp)
January 2017 "The cabin is very clean, well ordered, and relaxing space. The traffic sounds from the highway are muted by the soundproofing windows, and more so by the murmur of the water outside the wall of windows looking out over the river and across to the forest." ( Google)
